60 seconds with... RTA Publicity

RTA Publicity was established in 1982 when managing director Lynn Wall spotted a gap in the market for the design, production and installation of advertising hoardings at racecourses around the country.

The name RTA comes from ‘Racecourse Televised Advertising’. The firm now works across all the major horse racing festivals, such as Royal Ascot, providing branding solutions for the venues, sponsors and hospitality teams. Although the majority of RTA’s business is horse racing, it has also worked at a wide range of other sporting events including the European Rugby Champions Cup, World Darts Championships, Queen’s Club Championships and Euros.

Where are you based?
We have offices in Uxbridge and Liverpool, so we are well placed to cover events in north and south

How many staff do you have?
13 in total, four are based in Liverpool and nine in Uxbridge

What does your firm do?
We produce and install all types of event branding and signage. From large-scale hoardings and building banners, flags, backdrops, vinyl wraps, pop-ups, information boards, branded clothing and merchandise, and also bespoke requests and solutions to fit unusual requests. You name it, and there’s a strong chance we can do it

What’s your typical customer?
There are two main sides to the business. Sponsors, who want the best possible branding coverage across the event for their race day, both for TV coverage and on-site presence. Then there are the racecourses and venues themselves, working with the operations, events and catering teams to help them deliver the best possible customer experience

Which geographic areas do you serve?
Nationwide, we have worked from Exeter Racecourse in the south up to Perth in Scotland!

What’s your USP?
We like to think of ourselves as a one-stop shop for event branding and signage. We can help manage the whole project, from concept to design, production to installation, project management and budgeting

What’s your company’s motto/mission statement?
TEAMWORK. We have a really strong team ethic and it’s important to us in the crazy world of events that everyone can pitch in

What’s been your proudest achievement?
How the company managed and came through the pandemic. Everybody pulled together and made sacrifices to ensure we came through it in the best possible shape

Where do you see your business in five years’ time?
We are determined to continue our upward curve out of the pandemic. And hopefully, we will be in our newly refurbished Uxbridge office – we are looking to redevelop to give us better office and storage space

What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?
We probably have more cake than biscuits as we’ve a few keen bakers, but Tunnock’s Caramel Wafers will always be well received
