He quickly decided he needed to add cutting and creasing, and the business made the first of two moves to accommodate the growing plant list. In 2018, Fathers purchased Southern Cutters in Tonbridge. This is run as a separate entity and he has ambitions to grow Southern Cutters just as he has with Fathers Finishers.
Where are you based?
Born out of a small unit in Erith the business then moved just outside the M25 to Swanscombe, Kent. Southern Cutters is still based in Tonbridge

We currently have 14 full-time staff at Fathers Finishers and six at Southern Cutters
What does your firm do?
We offer a complete finishing service from design, die-cutting, creasing, embossing, debossing, carton gluing, envelopes, ticket wallets, folders, window patching, auto taping, labelling and other products
What’s your typical customer?
Typically we do trade work, with our customers specialising in their own sectors. We finish products for sectors including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food and more

Quality, timings and transparency. Quality is at the forefront of everything we produce, deadlines are always met and we are clear and transparent with our customers from start to completion

What equipment do you run?
Two Signature inline gluers capable of straight line, crashlock, four- and six-corner carton work. One Vega straightline and crashlock inline gluer. Three B1 Bobst flatbed cutters, with emboss/deboss and full stripping facilities. Two window patchers, numerous auto tapers plus more. There’s not much that we can’t finish when it comes to carton conversion
What’s been your proudest achievement in the past few years?
It was nice to work alongside the Royal British Legion developing the new eco-friendly poppy
Where do you see your business in five years’ time?
Our aim is to move Southern Cutters and Fathers Finishers into one site while continuing to meet clients’ ever-changing needs
What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?
They’re never in the barrel long enough to see what they are!
