60-seconds with Copyprint

Copyprint was established in 1980 in the former owner’s garage. It grew substantially in the early 1980s and moved to an industrial unit in Treforest. It has since taken over the neighbouring units on either side.

Where are you based?

Copyprint is based in Pontypridd, just north of Cardiff

How many staff do you have?

Five full-time and four part-time, which gives us flexibility

What does your firm do?

Anything on paper!

What’s your typical customer?

We don’t have one. We serve several national restaurant chains, which we ship to daily, as well as orders for raffle tickets for the local hotel

What’s your USP?

We basically all love printing here. And we’ve always sold a service as opposed to a product. This seems to go a long way as repeat orders are 90% of our work

What equipment do you run?

Litho and digital kit including a brand new Konica Minolta C1060. The stand-out finishing machine is a Morgana 200e bookletmaker system with squarefold, it has dramatically reduced production time already.

What’s been your proudest achievement in the past few years?

Paying back the banks after the MBO nine years ago and becoming debt free was a huge day for us and allowed us then to reinvest in both equipment and staff

Where do you see your business in five years’ time?

Hopefully we’ll be able to further invest to suit the market. One thing is for sure – we won’t be peddling 5,000 A5 leaflets for £49!

What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?

Leave a packet of Fox’s Crunch Creams hanging about here and they’ll be gone in an instant!
