Wyndeham Group secures The Economist contract

Wyndeham Group has secured a three-year contract to print <i>The Economist</i> magazine and associated publications.

The Economist has a weekly circulation of 210,000 and will continue to be produced by Wyndeham Peterborough, formerly St Ives Peterborough.

The company specialises in producing high volume weekly publications using two Lithoman IV 64/72pp heatset web offset presses and a Ferag UniDrum gatherer-stitcher.

Paul Utting, Wyndeham Group chief executive, said: "We are absolutely delighted to secure production of this growing and prestigious magazine for another three-year term, particularly after the extensive review process which preceded this award.

"Clearly, this is a vote of confidence in our Peterborough business and the Wyndeham Group generally."

He added that the company was especially pleased to have won the contract so soon after its acquisition of the St Ives Web division.

Sharon Simpson, international production director at The Economist, said: "The print market in the UK is under severe stress and it is vital that we continue to provide our customers with a high level of consistent service.

"Therefore, we must continue to support our print partners to sustain our magazine businesses for the foreseeable future. We look forward to our continued partnership with the excellent team in Peterborough which has provided us with outstanding service for more than 20 years."

In April, Wyndeham Press Group-owner Walstead Investments completed its £20m acquisition of St Ives Web.
