Printhaus upgrades to Kodak Magnus 800 Quantum platesetter

Printhaus has ordered a Kodak Magnus 800 Quantum platesetter at Drupa.

The Northampton-based commercial printer, which creates, prints and fulfils direct mail campaigns, will also upgrade to Kodak Prinergy Workflow System version 4.0, with connections to Kodak Insite Prepress Portal System to improve web communication and collaboration with customers.

Printhaus has a long history of using Kodak platesetters and was the site of the first UK commercial installation of the Prinergy system in 2000, the company said.

Kelly Harris, managing director of Printhaus, said: "The new Prinergy System with connectivity to Insite software will keep us keep moving with our customers' requirements to do more business over the internet. We'll be able to link with our existing MIS system, so we expect to automate many processes."

Kodak's new Magnus 800 Quantum platesetter uses a thermal head that generates double the laser power of earlier models.

This increases the speed of plate production, and gives broader imaging latitude and higher stability in case of plate sensitivity variations.

It has an output capacity of up to 60 eight-up plates per hour and uses Kodak Staccato Screening for high-quality colour reproduction.

Printhaus, which marks its 20th anniversary next year, has had ISO14001 Environmental accreditation since 2005 and FSC and PEFC chain of custody awards. It works for clients in finance, the motor industry, retailing and publishing.
