H&H Reeds Printers upgrades finishing department with Heidelberg spend

H&H Reeds Printers has made a "significant" investment into its finishing department after ordering a new Heidelberg Stahlfolder TH 56 and the manufacturer's Prinect Postpress workflow.

The installation, which will take place in March, will replace a 12-year-old machine at the Penrith-based business.

The 40-staff company's Stahlfolder TH 56 will finish jobs printed on the printer's four-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75-4+L.

According to H&H Reeds Printers managing director Andy Jackson, "efficiency was key" when it came to investing in the 12-staff finishing department.

He said: "We looked at other folders on the market but thought the TH 56 was the best machine. We have a strong relationship with Heidelberg and will benefit from being able to add to our JDF connectivity with Pressroom Manager."

H&H Reeds Printers opted for the Prinect module as it ties in to the company's Tharstern MIS and Prinect pressroom manager software.

Jackson said this will enable the operators to tap into the location of a customer's job in real time while viewing both the productivity and efficiency of the machine.

The company, which employs 40 staff, caters for a range of customers, including councils and local government.

Last July, the company entered the wide-format sector and grew its staff count by five after acquiring Carlisle-based Albany Sign and Display.

It took over the wide-format and signage printer in a bid to expand its range of services while creating a one-stop shop.
