Goss Folia first for French firm

French printer Imprimerie Drid has ordered the first Goss Folia off- set press in the world with dual acrylic varnishing.

Goss unveiled on the opening day of the show that the printer, which is based on the outskirts of Paris, will take delivery of the new machine later this year and will use it to print a wide range of products, including annual reports, leaflets, catalogues and brochures.

Imprimerie Dridé's chief execu- tive Gilles Aubin said that the company opted for the Folia as it was the only simultaneous perfecting machine that offered high print quality at speeds of up to 30,000 sheets per hour.

"The Folia press can process all conventional jobs at very high speeds without deforming the paper," explained Aubin. "It also opens up to us new development opportunities with its high-gloss varnished printing capabilities and fast automatic plate-change speed. The system for regulating blanket cylinder pressure controlled from the machine's console also makes the press versatile when it comes to using heavier-weight papers."

The Folia press, which was unveiled at Drupa 2008, features a host of the manufacturer's proven technologies, such as the Autoplate automatic plate-changing system, continuous sheet output, advanced colour control and the Goss DigiRail digital inking solution. Blanket-to-blanket printing using the entire sheet format can cover 700x1,020mm.
