Germany's Niggemeyer takes Fujifilm Uvistar after Fespa signing

Germany-based Niggemeyer Bildproduktion has bought a Fujifilm Uvistar superwide-format printer.

The large-format specialist signed for the 5m-wide machine at this year's Fespa exhibition in Munich and will use it for indoor and outdoor graphics, as well as fine art and fabric work.

The press has been modified to meet the company's specific requirements, following a visit to Fujifilm's demonstration facility in Broadstairs in the UK.

Managing director Roland Niggemeyer said: "We looked at a number of devices that would be able to produce outdoor banners at great speeds, while also able to print high-quality indoor point-of-sale displays. The Uvistar was by far the most flexible machine on the market.

"The [Fujifilm] technical team was very happy to make the necessary modifications to meet the very stringent high-quality printing needs of our customers."

The machine is capable of speeds up to 300sqm/hr and uses a multi-roll system with the capability of printing on to a wide variety of substrates, including polyethylene using Fujifilm Sericol Uvijet QK inks.

Niggemeyer added that his company was also looking to replace its colour management system with Fujifilm's Pro-File.
