Borble grows web-to-print label system with UK's first Xeikon 3300

Borble is pushing for growth in its newly launched label web-to-print system after investing in the UK's first Xeikon 3300 digital press.

The Rhyl-based digital label printer will significantly boost print capacity with the machine that complements an existing Xeikon 330.

Established in 2005, the all-digital printer specialises in label and wallpaper production and will run the brace of Xeikons on double-day shifts.

Barry Griffiths, joint managing director at Borble, said the investment was further recognition of customer demands moving more towards high-quality short-run jobs.

He said: "Flexo printers just cannot match digital for cost when it comes to short-run work. Because we have very little in the way of set-up costs we are always competitive where low quantities are required."

The £1.2m turnover business will use the new machine to serve a range of clients. Half of its label business is from trade accounts, as well as those through its new web-to-print service, Labelsprint.

The Xeikon 3300 offers 1200dpi and print speeds of 19.2 meters per minute with a monthly duty cycle of up to 700,000m.

Griffiths said: "Because no plates are required we can also very quickly produce a press-proof for a customer, using the exact colours and stock of the final job."
