BGP makes redundancies "following large increase in contract base"

Benhamgoodheadprint (BGP) has made a number of redundancies "following a large increase" in the company's contract base that it said was achieved during the past six months.

David Holland, Goodhead Group chief executive said the business now had a smaller requirement for commercial sales, and had accordingly "trimmed" its sales team.

This includes BGP sales director Phil Glossop, who has left the company.

Holland said Glossop was part of the company's sales force reduction "following its growth in contractual work", and will not be replaced.

Glossop has joined Flintshire-based web offset printer Graphomedia as southern sales director. He declined to comment at this time.

Holland said: "There have been 10 redundancies spread over a number of months and we have recruited 10 additional full-time manufacturing staff."

Daniel Barnett has also left BGP, where he was one of two customer service directors. Remaining customer service director Jim Mellon will stay in the role.

In February this year, BGP managing director Geoff Hughes was made redundant.

In January, former Wyndeham Heron finance director Mike Edwards was appointed as BGP's first full-time group finance director, while Lindsay Atkinson was appointed as head of operations in November.
