The 7,250sqm Bristol Patchway site, which is currently under development, will be used for the company’s business mail and parcel collection and sortation operations for the South West.
Whistl has operated from its current Bristol depot since 2006 and the existing 170 team members will transfer to the new site.
The move to the larger site will see the company launch a recruitment drive in the new year for new job opportunities in the office, depot and transport areas.
Whistl said the new site will further improve its current operations and enable a more efficient working environment.
The site will also reduce the company’s environmental footprint through using the latest heat and power technology as well as improved insulation. There will be provision for electric vehicle charging and cycle parking to encourage greener transport methods.
Whistl chief executive Nick Wells said: “We are looking forward to our move in 2021 to a new site which will provide an enhanced working environment for our colleagues in Bristol. This investment demonstrates our commitment to the South West and to ensuring that we continue to provide efficient and cost-effective service for our customers.”
Earlier this month the company revealed it has taken leases on around 42,000sqm of warehouse space at its existing Rushden fulfilment capability and G-Park Northampton, to meet the growing demand for its fulfilment and contact centres.
The business entered the e-commerce fulfilment and contact centres market through the acquisition of Prism DM in 2017 and expanded its presence the following year with the acquisition of Spark Response and Spark Etail.
With a turnover of more than £685m, Whistl employs around 2,000 staff and is headquartered in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
