The Cork-based family business installed a 7,700sph Easymatrix 106 CS die-cutter with cutting and stripping and a 300m/min Diana GO 85 folder gluer in February.

The largely Heidelberg house, which produces books, commercial, DM, inserts and packaging had previously printed packaging inhouse, but outsourced its finishing.

“Going all the way back to 1954 when Watermans first opened, Heidelberg were the machines of choice for us. Today that partnership is still going strong, said managing director Wan Waterman.

“We have looked at a number of different options from other suppliers but, none could match the service levels and expertise that Heidelberg offered to us. It was an easy fit for us as we are an all Heidelberg house.”

While the firm runs largely Heidelberg kit across its press hall and bindery, including two Heidelberg Speedmaster CDs, a five-back-five perfector and five-colour plus coater, its digital battery consists of Xerox engines.

The business was founded in 1955 by three brothers John, Wan and Bill and is now run by their respective sons.
