OKI expands ColorPainter family

OKI is set to expand its ColorPainter wide-format printer portfolio with the addition of a new machine.
The E-64s ColorPainter will be launched in December and commercially available in the UK in January from Whitchurch, Shropshire-based supplier Signmaster Systems.
The 64in (1.6m-wide) machine is said to offer a high level of quality and precision and entry-level, environmentally aware printing.
The device, which uses OKI’s high-pigment eco-solvent SX ink, supports the optimum level of colour at all print speeds for both indoor and outdoor applications.
It can handle substrates including back-/front-lit media, technical textile, wallpaper, canvas, hard PVC, banner and vinyl.
Integrated in the device are technologies associated with the existing ColorPainter M-series, including Smart Pass 4, Smart Nozzle Mapping 3 and Dynamic Dot Printing as well as H-series technologies such as the Safe Scanning System.
An optional ioniser is included for printing indoors, where electrostatic materials are often used.
The maximum speed of the machine is 22.9sqm/hr sellable quality on banner and 15sqm/hr at high quality on vinyl. The maximum resolution is 1,080dpi.
OKI said the E-64s is additional to its portfolio and completes the ColorPainter premium range. It added the W-series printers will be phased out.
Signmaster Systems managing director Phil George told PrintWeek: “The E-64s is a fantastic piece of equipment which we’re really excited about.
“It has many new features including auto-feed calibration, which will automatically correct all of the settings required at the press of a button – something that would normally take a few minutes to do. It will also change all the settings at the press of a button for bi-direction so that you don’t have to do this manually anymore.
“Additionally, because it uses the SX ink, which is also used in the M-series and H-series printers, it’s got more pigment in the ink with a different viscosity to the competitive products out there.”
George added that the machine can achieve £1.20/sqm at photographic quality because the denser ink means less needs to go down on the materials.
The E-64s ColorPainter will cost £12,995 from Signmaster Systems, which will come with the take-up unit and either SignLab Print and Cut or Onyx software. The price includes delivery, installation and training.
In June OKI presented its Next Generation wide-format printing technology, which uses water-based pigmented ink and prints on a varied range of materials, for the first time at Drupa.
