Kernow expands range of HP Indigo-compatible substrates

Kernow Coatings has added a clear polyester product, KernowPrint Lucid, to its range of HP Indigo-compatible synthetic substrates.

Applications for the ultra-clear film include special effects commercial print, industrial nameplates and buttons and membrane switches.

“Outside of industrial print, we're seeing designers really jump on this product for layered special effects that add excellent depth to promotion pieces and greetings cards,” said Kernow Coatings product manager for HP Indigo materials Dan Lawellin.

Lucid will be followed by a further six products that use the Cornish firm’s proprietary Cobalt coating for Indigo presses during 2019.

“Cobalt is taking off really quickly,” said Lawellin. “Optically clear materials have been one of the top requested products.”

Cobalt, which was launched at Dscoop 2017, uses a specially developed coating that controls static and ensures high ink adhesion for easier handling during production and more robust finished items.

It is available in 105, 130 and 180 micron thicknesses. Sheets are available ex-stock for cut-sheet presses, while reels are available to order. Antalis and Premier are the UK merchants for KernowPrint products.
