The manufacturer said the series has been introduced as a replacement to the existing Acuity Advance Select series - though the Acuity Advance Select HS high-speed model will remain available - and retains the advantages of the Acuity UV flatbed printer.

This includes near-photographic image quality, print speeds up to 33.6sqm/hr, versatility and ease of use to produce a wide variety of applications on a range of substrates up to 50.8mm thick.

The range is commercially available with immediate effect and while Fujifilm did not reveal exact pricing details, it confirmed that the cost is similar to previous models in the Acuity Advance Select series.

Features of the Acuity Select 20 series include the option of using light cyan and light magenta to further enhance print quality for those producing fine art or photographic images.

The addition of a pneumatic pin registration system is said to deliver quick and easy media loading while an optional automated printhead maintenance system further improves productivity. Enhanced UV lamp technology allows for thinner and more sensitive media to be printed.

The series also features an improved high-pressure vacuum system, which is designed to reduce the need for masking of the bed for easy loading of media.

With the addition of light inks, the new series is available in three channel variations (four, six or eight channels) across eight new models.

The series will also be available in both the standard (2.5x1.25m) and X2 (2.5x3.08m) bed sizes, with a roll option available for both.

Fujifilm marketing manager Mike Battersby said the series has been designed with a focus on quality, versatility, reliability and ease of use.

“It is a step up from the previous models that we’ve been selling for about four years,” he said.

“The print quality that printers could get off an Acuity was already extremely good but adding lights for the first time boosts the quality to another level for somebody printing fine art or photographic work.”

Fujifilm said the series is also suitable for display or signage printers looking to add value and offers mid-volume printers the opportunity to add capacity and improve quality.
