Solimar and Kyocera team on workflow

Solimar Systems and Kyocera Document Solutions have formed a new partnership aimed at boosting production options with Kyocera’s TASKalfa Pro 15000c sheetfed inkjet press.
The partnership is focused on transactional and variable data print specialists using IPDS and AFP data streams.
Marcel Ebbenhorst, production printing manager at Kyocera Document Solutions Europe, praised Solimar for its portfolio of flexible solutions, which allowed for increased production efficiencies on the TASKalfa 15000c.
“They offer scalable, modular platforms that easily integrate with our customers’ existing workflow, without any impact on productivity and reliability,” he said.
The TASKalfa Pro 15000c prints 150ppm simplex at 600x600dpi and handles paper sizes from A6 to SRA3, and stock weights from 56gsm to 360gsm.
The press costs from £130,000-£200,000 depending on configuration, and features include a small footprint, low power requirements, and low cost per page.
Jamie Walsh, Solimar Systems sales manager for EMEA and APAC, explained that its software worked alongside existing frontends that drive the system, such as EFI’s Fiery.
“Our iConvert platform for IPDS and the transactional space integrates with Fiery,” he said.
“Then our other solutions look at the broader picture of applications such as labels, direct mail and packaging – the other workflow solutions wrap around that,” he added.
Solimar’s Chemistry Customer Communications Management (CCM) platform involves enterprise-level workflow tools that also integrate with other third-party technologies. It can drive a variety of print and digital workflows.
The developer is headquartered in California but has a UK office in Cheltenham. It is celebrating 30 years in business this year.
Walsh said that the partnership was the beginning of a long-term alliance, with some Kyocera customers in Europe already using Solimar’s software.
“We are really excited about working with Kyocera. I think they’re going to do extremely well with that model and it will be interesting to see how they flex the technology,” he added.
The first Kyocera TASKalfa 15000c in the UK was installed at Document Despatch in Basingstoke last year.
