WP Digital to be integrated into parent Polytype as part of increased digital focus

Wifag-Polytype Holding, the parent company of wide-format digital print supplier WP Digital has merged the WP operations into its Polytype division citing the potential of digital technology in its traditional packaging printing, coating and converting markets.

As a result the Swiss firm is closing the WP Digital offices in Wittenbach and establishing a digital printing centre at its Fribourg site.

Having suggested the merger at the start of this year WP chief executive Kaspar Widmer is leaving the business at the end of October.

Wide-format products will continue to be developed and sold under the Virtu brand. The Virtu business unit will be managed by Frédéric Pavesi, previously business development manager for digital applications at Polytype from the beginning of November.
