Sappi sublimation range: price increase is unavoidable due to input costs

Sappi has added inkjet and sublimation papers to the list of products that will be subject to price increases.

The group said that prices would increase by 8%-15% for deliveries from 1 July.

“The unprecedented and ongoing rise of raw material costs, particularly pulp, chemicals and energy, in combination with extremely high freight rates makes price adjustments unavoidable,” Sappi stated.

Its inkjet papers range for large-format printing includes papers for water-based, solvent, HP Latex and UV inks up to 3.1m wide. Target markets include indoor and outdoor poster applications and technical printing for CAD and engineering.

The Transjet product range includes coated sublimation papers for a range of digital transfer printing applications including industrial printers and textiles.

Basejet is an uncoated dye-sublimation paper.

The sublimation range is used for fashion, home textiles, sportswear and sports equipment, soft signage and in the hard substrates industries.

Sappi said its sales team would be in touch with customers regarding how the price rise would be implemented.

Since the beginning of the year Sappi has announced increases in the prices of its woodfree coated and uncoated paper; packaging and speciality grades; containerboard, and now sublimation and inkjet.
