Ricoh joins Two Sides and Print Power

Ricoh Europe has joined Two Sides and Print Power in their drive to promote the responsible production and use of print and paper.

It is the latest digital printer manufacturer to confirm its commitment to environmental sustainability by joining the initiative.

Graham Moore, director of Ricoh Europe said the company joined the initiative because sustainability was part of Ricoh’s DNA.

"Companies need to realise that going green doesn’t have to be an added cost. If it’s done in the right way it can mean minimal wastage and can be a way of improving workflow," he said.

Martyn Eustace, director of Two Sides and UK country manager of Print Power said: "Cannon and Kodak are already part of the campaign and now Ricoh’s involvement is an affirmation that people in digital graphics feel strongly about sustainability."

Eustace said it was a struggle to persuade printers to take part in the campaign but he hoped Ricoh’s involvement would attract more new members.

"People in the UK assume print media is not sustainable but by providing the facts and information we’re able to persuade companies to get involved.

"Every time people see a major company joining the campaign they are more likely to get involved themselves," he added

Eustace said Ricoh had a "really strong" environmental strategy and Two Sides and Print Power would not try to tell it how to manage its sustainability programme.

"We’re not out there to tell companies how to act. We just want to gather likeminded people together for the better good," he added.

Eustace said more companies were joining as a result of its No Wonder You Love Paper campaign, which had given the initiative £2.5m worth of publicity.
