The firm has relocated to a new factory in Armley Road, Leeds, which at 2,300sqm is twice the size of the firm’s previous premises.

“We wanted a press that produced 16pp sections,” said managing director Phil Thompson. “I don’t think that there are really separate B1 and B2 markets – we didn’t need the B1 sheet, so the Ryobi 925 fitted the bill.”

The single Ryobi replaces a pair of Mitsubishi Diamond B2 presses.

In addition to the press the firm also invested in pre-press and post-press. It’s pre-press spend included upgrading its Kodak Prinergy workflow and installing a new Magnus 800 platesetter to handle the larger format of the new press. In post-press it has upgraded its guillotine with a Polar 115ED to handle the larger format sheets and added polywrapping and inserting equipment from KAS and Neopost.

“We’ve equipped the business for the next five to 10 years,” said Thompson. “The move was 12 months in the planning.”

Thompson bills the 45-staff firm with a turnover approaching £5m as “an MSP stretching from communications strategy to business stationery”.

In addition to offset printing Resource has digital print and an in-house eight-strong creative team that offers content, design and data covering web, PURL, SMS and W2P.

The firm offers customers Carbon Balanced Offseting of client’s print work via the World Land Trust and hold ISO 9001, 14001 and 27001 accreditation.
