Prepress UK named as distributor for Auraia DM screening

Prepress UK has been appointed as a UK dealer for Auraia digitally modulated (DM) screening by developer by Hamillroad Software.

DM screens are said to overcome the limitations of both AM and FM screens to deliver even higher detail of up to 500lpi, than FM, as well flat tints as smooth, or even smoother, than AM screens.

”We’re trying to raise the profile and be more pro-active about the benefits of Auraia,” said Prepress UK technical manager Andrew Aldridge.

“Auraia offers amazing quality, especially on uncoated stocks and it is very easy to install. Unlike FM screens it has a very predictable dot gain,” said Aldridge.

The firm also sells StudioRIP workflows, it’s own CIP3 ink-key pre-setting software and colour management tools, including helping customers to achieve ISO 12647-2. Aldridge said that he expected that customers would take a complete suite of the firm’s services to improve their quality and productivity.

An additional claimed benefit is that Auraia can deliver dramatic improvements when using older and violet platesetters rather than need a newer thermal unit to deliver best results.

He added that the firm would reveal the details of its first customer, who is already using the software, shortly.

Auraia is also available via Hamillroad’s global OEM partners Compose Systems and ECRM. In the UK, MyPressXpert is currently trialing the Compose version with a number of large newspaper, web offset and commercial sheetfed printers.
