Pinstripe Print Group invests 60,000 in Prinect workflow

Pinstripe Print Group has invested 60,000 in Prinect Prepress Manager and Pressroom Manager in a drive to achieve ISO 12647-2 colour certification.

The Birmingham-based company decided to update its workflow after buying a second-hand Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75-5+L five-colour B2 press in August.

Paul Stone, the company’s pre-press manager said: "We needed something that would complement all of our equipment, so Heidelberg was the obvious choice seeing as we already had a Heidelberg press."

He added that achieving ISO 12647-2 colour certification would give the £2m turnover, 25 staff company more weight when applying for national framework agreements with public bodies, which he said had been "very important" to the company over the last five years.

"Once you’re in one of those framework agreements, you’re more likely to get other jobs from the same clients. So the more qualifications we can show when we are going for tenders the better," he said.

The company also installed Prinect Color Toolbox with the new workflow which Stone said would "iron out pitfalls and spots problems early.

Stone added that Pinstripe Print Group was considering installing new equipment in its bindery and finishing department.

"We’ve taken care of our pre-press department, studio and press now so the next move would be to increase capacity in the finishing department."

The company is also looking at developing its web-to-print service as a direct result of its increased capacity since buying the new press.

"We already have a basic web-to-print system but we’ve been looking at systems from Heidelberg as well as other companies," said Stone.
