PG Tips rolls out personalised mug promo

PG Tips is the latest brand to embrace a large-scale personalisation project for a promotion.

The Unilever-owned tea brand is giving away more than 500,000 personalised mugs as part of the promo.

Consumers enter a special code from 80- or 160-bag packs of PG Tips black tea to see if they are one of 525,424 potential winners.

Successful entrants receive a bone china mug with their initials in the style of the overlapping green and red capitals used in the PG Tips logo.

PG Tips has worked with London-based integrated agency Hey Human on the project.

It’s not clear whether the companies are working with a UK supplier to provide the mug printing and fulfilment service.

The promotion began last month and runs until 4 December and the turnaround time for receipt of mugs is up to 90 days.

The campaign is being promoted through press advertising as well as social media. Consumers who have already received their mugs have been posting pictures on Twitter with the hashtags #MyPGMug and #keepittea.
