New year predictions: Chris Knowles, BCQ Group

Chris Knowles stepped up to become managing director at Buckingham-based BCQ Group this year. While that, and being a finalist at the PrintWeek Awards were among the highlights, England's dismal performance at the Rugby World Cup was a definite lowlight.

Rest and relaxation – it’s been a busy year.

Hybrid print and direct mail.

What’s the one thing that the industry should do more of, or do better, in 2016?

Be proud of itself – print when done well is one of the most beautiful and engaging mediums ever conceived.

What was your biggest disappointment in 2015?

England’s performance at the Rugby World Cup.

What was your highlight of 2015?

Being shortlisted for PrintWeek Company of the Year.

What are your hopes for 2016?

Onwards and upwards.

What was the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Work smarter not harder.

What was the most important thing that you learnt in 2015?

They don’t call them ‘the terrible twos’ for nothing!

What if anything will you do differently in 2016?

Take more time off to spend with my wife and daughters – they are growing up too fast.

Not saying – it could weaken our negotiating position

What was the best Christmas present you ever received?

An air rifle when I was 10 – no tin cans were safe that year!
