MPD Offset boosts digital arm with Xerox iGen5 buy

Commercial printer MPD Offset has improved its productivity and quality after becoming the latest company to invest in a Xerox iGen5.

The 120ppm iGen5 120 model, which was bought from Xerox reseller Xeretec and replaced an iGen4, was installed at the Swindon-based firm’s premises around two months ago.

The iGen5 has a maximum sheet size of 364x660mm. It can handle coated, uncoated, textured and speciality stocks of 50-350gsm.

The business looked at a number of alternatives but director Adam Szczerkowski said the iGen5 stood out for a variety of reasons.

He told PrintWeek: “Our iGen4 served a purpose but the iGen5 is slightly faster and the print quality is much better.

“Our clients were happy with what we’d previously printed on the iGen4 but they are over the moon with the quality they are getting now.”

The iGen5 also has an optional fifth colour of orange, green or blue dry ink alongside CMYK. Szczerkowski said the business has not yet installed the fifth colour but is currently surveying its clients to see which of the three options would be most beneficial to them.

MPD Offset, which also operates a Komori LS29 offset press, has 18 staff and a turnover of around £2m. It serves clients including agencies, blue-chip companies and print management firms.
