A high-profile and controversial entrepreneur has taken a stake in a London printing business that changed hands last year.

William Storey is the CEO at Wolf Data Systems and founder of energy drinks brand Rich Energy. Rich Energy had a notable and short-lived association with Formula 1 as sponsor of the Haas team, and Storey has recently hinted at a return to F1 sponsorship. He also has a beef jerky business, WolfJerky.

Last year he was linked with a possible bid for Sunderland FC.

Storey describes himself as an “Entrepreneur. Mathematician. Boxing manager. Ex Formula One Title sponsor. Biker.”

He also holds strong opinions about the Covid-19 situation and is anti-lockdown and anti-vaccination.

His profile information states: “Entrepreneur operating in a variety of sectors from IT/ Business services to technology law, sports and entertainment ,music, finance and natural resources. Clients range from FTSE 100 companies to football clubs to national governments.”

Posting on LinkedIn Storey said that he was “delighted to become a stakeholder in the South of England's leading sustainable production print group DCS London”.

Digital Creative Services (London) Ltd, which trades as DCS London, is located near London’s ExCel exhibition centre.

Last year the firm, which offers a range of services including 24/5 typesetting and small and large-format digital printing, was taken over by former DG3 managing director Barry Page and David Gibbons, who is also a director at KNP Litho in Bury St Edmunds.

Page left DG3 in the summer of 2019 after more than 15 years at the business.

In his LinkedIn post, Storey alluded to further possible investments in the print and packaging space, and mentioned “several pending acquisitions”.

He said: “Production print and packaging is a £14 billion billion [sic] per annum market in the UK & with Wolf Data Systems flourishing in the Business technology & IT sector, it is a natural progression to add another pillar to the project.

“I'm really excited to become part of a brilliant print business with decades of experience & a cutting edge industrial print facility in London's Docklands. I look forward to building the group alongside print industry veterans Barry Page & Dave Gibbons. I believe we can continue to build the most exciting firm in the industry with a stellar list of corporate clients & several pending acquisitions. Print is an area that has long interested me & it is great to take a stake in a group that is enjoying phenomenal growth.”

Yesterday Rich Energy announced that DCS London had become its exclusive print and merchandise partner.

Wolf Data Systems offers IT services, cloud computing, telecoms, document solutions, and mobile and cloud printing. It lists its partners as including Epson, HP, Kyocera and Ricoh.

Storey is also the most recent interviewee on The British Entrepreneur podcast with Jon Joseph Bourgerie, with the full video expected to be released on its YouTube channel today (12 March).
