Graphics Works invests in Oc Arizona 350GT flatbed to stay "one step ahead"

Graphics Works has said a growing need to stay "one step ahead" on the technology front led it to invest in an Oc Arizona 350GT flatbed.

The Milton Keynes-based business took delivery of the roll-to-roll and flatbed machine at the end of May; an investment it anticipates will open up new markets for the company.

Peter Barham, production director at Graphics Works, said: "With the stagnation of the exhibition sector over the last 18 months we needed to stay light on our feet and respond to changing markets, and the Arizona will be a fundamental part of developing new business.

"This latest investment will allow us to expand our customers' creativity but it's also a case of educating them about what is now possible."

Graphics Works will use the flatbed machine for a number of applications including digitally-printed wallcoverings and large format display graphics.

"This has been a major investment for the company, but reflects our optimism for continued growth and the importance of remaining focussed on quality, despite constant pressure on pricing," said Barham.

The five-staff business, which shook hands on the deal at Sign & Digital UK earlier this year, identified the Arizona's white ink option as a major factor in the sale.

Barham said: "I had tried white ink on other machines but hadn't been impressed with the results but with the new Arizona, they were absolutely fantastic.

"Outstanding image quality, accuracy and flexibility in handling white ink was crucial and the many unusual sample requests that I made to Océ were carried out to perfection."
