Ghost turns lasers into sublimation printers at Fespa

Ghost is showing White Toner at Fespa, a product that can be used in place of a black toner cartridge to turn various laser printers – including HP, Samsung and Lexmark models – into white toner printers.

In combination with transfer films for textiles or solid surfaces, the German firm said dark textiles and other products can be easily personalised. White designs can be printed on transfer foil and prints are then transferred using a heat transfer press.

The fabric can then be left to cool down and the pressing procedure can be repeated for washing resistance.

Additionally, the company’s Sublime Toner product enables the personalisation of sublimation-friendly polyester-coated blanks such as t-shirts, mugs, caps and mobile phone sleeves on HP Color LaserJet Pro M452 and M252 printers.

Users can replace the standard CMYK toner cartridges in those machines with a set of Ghost Sublime Toner CMYK cartridges.

Ghost said no software or transfer paper is required to use Sublime Toner and that the sublimation printing is stretchable and resistant to UV radiation.

Designs are printed on regular copy paper and then transferred to a blank at 200°C for 60 seconds using a heat transfer press. Designs can be peeled immediately after pressing.

Commercially available immediately and available to purchase through the company’s global reseller network, as well as direct through its website, Ghost chief executive David Kandelhardt said the cartridges offer “a new way to do sublimation printing in small format”.

Ghost is exhibiting at booth 4.1-D60 at Messe Berlin until tomorrow (May 18).
