EFI adds cutting and colour tools to latest version of XF software

EFI has upgraded its XF software with functions that improve its competitiveness across its core proofing and narrow- and wide-format production printing including improved colour handling.

New features for wide-format production include support for cutters, routers and cutter/plotters via a dedicated cutter server, which can generate cut marks for single jobs, nested jobs and step and repeat. Features include scale, rotation and cropping and the software can drive up to eight cutters consecutively. A print and cut option supports printer/cutters, which can also drive these machines as cutters only.

A new wizard simplifies the process of linearising EFI Vutek printers, including a custom black point setting. This is claimed to maximise the gamut of any combination of Vutek printer and media to produce bright colours, sharp text and smooth gradations.

It supports Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 and uses the latest versions of the Adobe PDF Print Engine and CPSI.

For packaging proofing the new version supports Epson's WT7900 proofer with white ink. There are also new printer drivers for a range of Epson, Mimaki, Oki, Rastek and Seiko machines.
