Denmaur launches digital division

Denmaur Paper Media has established a new division to support its extensive and growing offering of papers for digital print production.

The Sittingbourne-based paper merchant said Denmaur Digital was launched to coincide with recent additions to its digital portfolio, including Arctic Snow and the Evo inkjet range, as well as The Print Show, held at Birmingham’s NEC in September, where the new division was publicised to visitors.

Denmaur marketing and sustainability director Danny Doogan told Printweek: “Both our publishing and commercial print divisions remain strong in what they do, but we sensed an opportunity to connect our sheet and web offset products with new print technology.

“In many instances we are now in a position to offer consistency of the same grade for web offset, litho and digital print production.

“Our commercial print sales teams have taken on the responsibility for taking Denmaur Digital to clients, as it’s still the case that many digital users still have litho capability.”

He added Denmaur has started to serve more customers who have digital/inkjet kit, but no offset equipment.

“This is a growing area for us which in part has been aided by our improved logistical service. It is possible for us to fulfil smaller deliveries throughout the UK at competitive rates.”

Denmaur’s digital grades include Revive Silk and Innovation Digital, which are HP Indigo certified. Revive is 100% recycled while Innovation Digital does not require a pre-treatment process.

Doogan added Arctic Snow, which was launched in August, “competes very well in the prestige, luxury sector where a supreme level of whiteness is needed”.

Denmaur can stock and deliver bespoke sheet and reel requirements to customers.

While large-format substrates are not currently offered through the division, Doogan noted that Denmaur’s digital offering has evolved as an extension of its traditional business and it is “always looking for the next best opportunity”.

In May, former Gould Paper Corporation chief executive Harry E Gould Jr took a majority stake in Denmaur, marking his return to the paper industry.

The merchant runs as dual businesses Denmaur Media and Denmaur Paper following a rebrand and re-organisation last year.
