Agfa already has an existing cooperation with Global Graphics for RIP technology.

The new arrangement is specific to Agfa’s Offset Solutions division, which will gain access to Hybrid’s “technological know-how and full product portfolio” with a particular focus on packaging.

The manufacturer’s existing software solutions for packaging and labels include Apogee Prepress workflow, Arziro security design and authentication, and PressTune print standardisation tools.

Hybrid’s product range is focused on labels and packaging, and includes modular production workflow Cloudflow; Packz PDF editing software; and Stepz, which began life as a step-and-repeat package but now includes native PDF file corrections.

Global Graphics completed its acquisition of Hybrid at the beginning of the year.

Chairman Guido Van der Schueren said the group was “eager to broaden and intensify” its collaboration with Agfa.

“It will enable us to strengthen and grow the Hybrid Software solutions portfolio and to help optimise the next release of Agfa’s software products,” he said.

Andy Grant, global head of software at Agfa, commented: “We see this alliance as a logical next step, and as a way to build upon our existing technologies to develop innovative and customer-oriented solutions for our current as well as future printing industry market segments.”

Hybrid Software has also just received an Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) Technical Innovation Award for its Intelligent Flexo module, which is part of the Cloudflow system.
