McMordie Bros expands services with Mimaki JFX200-2513 buy

McMordie Bros is boasting the first Mimaki JFX200-2513 grand-format LED UV flatbed printer in Ireland to help the company expand its direct-to-board printing and rigid substrate service.

The Belfast business, which has four staff, was founded more than 60 years ago and offers printing and engraving as well as rigid substrates including foamboard and Corriboard.

The new machine cost £72,000, which around £20,000-£30,000 less than rival machines tested from HP and Canon, said McMordie Bros' owner Andrew Fleming.

“This was the obvious choice of flatbed for us, but not only because of its affordability. Its 8x4ft (2.4x1.2m) bed size is perfect for printing of standard-sized boards that are a large part of our trade service.

“The print quality we are seeing from the JFX200 is impressive and our customers are requesting work such as printing designs on to glass, doors and boards. Our portfolio is expanding rapidly.”

The JFX200-2513 is an addition to the company's kit line-up and the fourth piece of Mimaki hardware purchased through Belfast-based Mimaki reseller Dennis D Evans.

Sales manager Frank Wilson said: “The company was the first in Ireland to install a Mimaki CJV30 integrated printer-cutter in 2008. More recently they led with the first Mimaki SUV printer.”

The Mimaki JFX200-2513 uses LED UV technology to keep down running costs, boasts more eco credentials and comes with a choice of inkset.

These include white and clear, making it suitable for printing an array of applications and substrates. Hybrid Services is the exclusive UK & Ireland distributor.

General manager for Ireland Dave Rainsford said: “Since its release in 2014, the uptake of the Mimaki JFX200-2513 across the UK has been phenomenal.

“Having installed the first one in Ireland, McMordie Bros is reaping the benefits of this super-fast and highly-versatile flatbed.”
