Highworth Press installs five-colour Heidelberg B2 press

Commercial printer Highworth Press has purchased a five-colour B2-format Heidelberg CD C press from Itec Graphics as part of plans to modernise the business.

The Wiltshire-based company, which has a £1.2m turnover and has traditionally been a B3 print house, started to upgrade its machinery in 2008, with the installation of Screen Truflow kit, as well as a Konika Minolta Bizhub machine, and a Horizon StitchLiner and B3 laminator in 2009.

Managing director Keith Nicholl, who founded Lynx Offset before selling it in 2006, said that the installation of the £400,000, second-hand press was key to the company’s plans to eventually shift its core business from B3 to B2 printing.

Nicholl, who acquired Highworth Press in January 2008, added: "We felt that having B3 printing as the core business would restrict the company’s future turnover. I am from a B2 background, but this is the company’s first venture into B2 printing. We have had lots of orders from existing clients and a few new clients as well. We are very upbeat and positive about the future."
