Guardian News & Media was named Environmental Newspaper Company of the Year for its ‘Living our Values’ scheme, while The Guardian was named National Newspaper of the Year in both the weekday and weekend categories.
At an event attended by around 600 people, Johnston Press chief executive Tim Bowdler, who has led a print investment programme worth more than £110m in recent years, was named Personality of the Year.
Elsewhere, The Irish News, which moved from a Berliner to a tabloid format in early 2005 after building a £15m plant in Belfast, was named Newspaper of the Year. The Oxford Times won the Weekly Newspaper of the Year award.
