Gardners splashes out on second Agfa Dotrix

Gardners has opted for its second Agfa Dotrix press, four years after becoming the UK's first customer for the original machine.

The Cardiff-based printer is expected to take delivery of the modular industrial inkjet press, which includes one inkjet colour (SPICE) unit and two flexo units, in the coming months.

Richard Gardner, managing director at Gardners, said the original press "has proved to be a valuable asset in helping us develop business in general at Gardners".

He added: "We are now in a position to develop this area further as more and more of our customers have also realised its potential."

Laurence Roberts, managing director of Agfa Graphics UK, said: "Gardners has always been a highly innovative company."

He added that the investment is "a major boost to our hopes for Dotrix in the UK".

The news comes as Agfa revealed its UK and Ireland team pulled off more than £10m worth of confirmed sales at Drupa.

Roberts said: "We exceeded our sales target in all areas of business and it was very encouraging to see so many of our UK customers make the trip to Drupa."
