EFI unveils Jetrion 4900 at Labelexpo

EFI has launched the Jetrion 4900, a UV inkjet digital label press with in-line laser finishing from SEI Laser Converting, at Labelexpo.

The five-colour (CMYK+W) press, which is driven by a Fiery XF RIP and uses EFI's high qaulity UV inkjet inks, features a robust flexo-style web with an industrial grade transport.

An inline corona station in front of the print unit ensures ink adhesion on filmic substrates, providing greater substrate compatability, while the in-line laser finishing unit from SEI enables a full range of finishes.

The SEI unit uses high-powered dual lasers to provide die cutting, while a configurable slitting station with up to nine blades provides in-line slitting and backscoring on a wide range of substrates including paper, foil and film.

A festoon between the finishing station and the rewinder acts as a buffer to minimise substrate waste between jobs via what EFI described as a "unique reverse function".

EFI said that the press was designed with a heavy duty cycle in mind and it is aimed at short-run digital label jobs, where it can boost profitability by reducing set-up time, substrate waste and inventory requirements associated with label finishing, such as plates and dies.

Sean Skelly, vice president and general manager of EFI Jetrion, said: "EFI's Jetrion 4900 is a robust industrial press that is ideal for label converters looking to transfer high-cost, short- and medium-run jobs to digital systems, from print file straight through to finished roll.

"It produces top-quality labels with cost-savings that go straight to the bottom line, a must in today's business environment where lean manufacturing and efficiency are required to compete."

The EFI Jetrion 4900, which costs from €625,000 (£545,000), is on display on stand 9H55 at Labelexpo from 28 September to 1 October.
