DLRT achieves tough quality standard

Secure printing firm DLRT has successfully been re-accredited with the ISO 9001:2015 standard for the fourth time.

Part of Tall Group, Lisburn, Northern Ireland-based DLRT offers secure print and personalisation services for products such as cheques, Giro credits, prescriptions, certificates and vouchers.

It achieved the ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems, after undergoing the scrutiny of National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), which highlighted DLRT’s exceptionally high standards and professional infrastructure.

Managing director of 24-staff DLRT, Peter Thomas, said achieving the standard required a holistic approach where the end-to-end process was 'in scope'. “Processes and procedures need to documented and production flows identified and staff need then to be trained to ensure we do what we say and say what we do,” he explained.

Thomas continued: “It is imperative that we record, review and analyse what do day-in day-out to ensure consistency. This allows us identify gaps and potential risks within our process and procedures or mechanically within our machine park and address them. This way of working is mirrored in administration and production, thus creating a culture of quality assurance and ‘right first time’.”

Thomas added that the training was carried out alongside ISO 27001 Information Security Management standard, Cyber Essentials and GDPR training, all of which the business holds accreditations for, as well as Investors in People and ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard.

He said the company was extremely proud to have been re-accredited with the standard for a fourth time. “This demonstrates our ability to consistently provide products and services that meet our regulatory requirements, as well as those of our clients. We are wholeheartedly committed to investing in initiatives that drive greater performance and proficiency across our entire organisation,” he said.

DLRT, founded as DLRS in 1985 in a joint venture between De La Rue and Jefferson Smurfit Group, works with high street banks in UK and Ireland, government departments, health authorities and insurance companies and also offers consultancy on counterfeit and fraud alongside its secure print and personalisation services.

DLRT parent firm, Tall Group, boasts combined sales of £14m from 73-staff Tall Security in Runcorn, Cheshire, 50-staff Checkprint in Hinckley, Leicestershire and the Lisburn, Northern Ireland operation.
