Butler Tanner & Dennis installs Technotrans cooling unit

Butler Tanner & Dennis has installed a Technotrans beta.c combination unit to cool down the company's Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 162 press.

The unit controls both the temperature of the dampening solution circulators and ink rollers. Having both functions in one unit saves space and also reduces the energy requirement.

The Frome book and catalogue printer has located the central water cooling system for the beta.c, dryer and air supply systems in its warehouse, which helps to warm the building and reduce heating costs.

Butler Tanner & Dennis operations director Warwick Larkman said: "You want to eliminate the heat or else it is constantly battling with the air conditioning, which is a waste of energy. The Technotrans unit takes the heat out of the machine and circulates it into another room, which keeps that room warm without having to put the heating on."

Butler Tanner & Dennis said that it had used Technotrans for press ancillaries before and had found the company to be "supportive and responsive".

The company was the first in the UK to install a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 162 press.
