CCM Premier 115 M8

John Slayford, operations manager at Richard Edward, needed top quality and accuracy for his playing cards production and got it with this guillotine

What does the machine do?
The CCM 115 M8 guillotine is used for cutting down cards and general commercial work.

Why did you choose this particular machine?
We produce up to 40m packs of cards a year for brands including Top Trumps, Monopoly and Scooby Doo. Our clients insist on a high-quality product, which is why we need an accurate and reliable operation, and the CCM guillotine fitted our needs perfectly.

Did you look at any other similar machines?
We looked at other machines to compare prices, but more importantly, we considered the price of fixing our existing Sabor guillotine by replacing it with a new one.

Why did you make the purchase?
The CCM Premier 115 M8 replaced a previous model that had broken down. We use Terry Cooper Services for maintaining our existing guillotines and they assured us that installation would be quick as lead time was another important factor for us. In the end, we ordered the machine on Thursday and it was installed and operational by the following Wednesday. All very impressive.

What features do you particularly like?
We are particularly impressed with the help and information features which are displayed on screen, as well as the quick procedure for changing the knives with regards to health and safety.

Is there anything that you wish it had that it doesn’t?
I decided to order a standard machine, but with hindsight should have considered buying the one with bigger side tables.

How fast is it?
The speed is relatively standard.

How reliable is it?
We have only had the machine for six months, but up to now, it’s been very reliable.

What’s the quality like?
The quality is as you would expect from a brand new machine – excellent.

How easy is it to use?
It’s extremely easy to use, after just 30 minutes tuition, the finishing team were operational and have gone on to train other members of staff with equal ease.

Has it won you any new work?
No, but due to the quick installation, we were able to get our existing clients work completed on time.

Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes, absolutely and Terry Cooper has offered us a good before- and after-sales service.

Were there any difficulties experienced during or after the installation?
No, we were happy with the speed and ease at which the machine was installed.

What about the pre and after-sale service?
We are extremely pleased with the overall service we have received so far.

Who do you think the machine is right for?
I would advise that any printer that has the need to guillotine anything from A7 to B1, with clients that demand high quality, would benefit from using the CCM Premier 115 M8.

Under what circumstances would you buy another?
If our other guillotine (Polar) breaks down and becomes unreparable we would need to consider replacing it with this model.
CONCLUSION
User’s verdict
Speed 4/5
Quality 5/5
Reliability 5/5
