Setema to launch digital textile wash unit at Fespa

Setema will launch a new washing machine for digital textile printers at Fespa that offers higher throughput and lower costs.

The E-Wash is a development of the Dutch digital textile processing equipment firm’s Porta-Wash range and offers improved performance in a unit that is 40% smaller and 30% cheaper.

“At the top end of the digital textile market firms such as Durst and MS are increasing the speed of their printers, so we saw a need for a faster machine,” said Jaco Kramer, a director at Setema’s sales and marketing partner 2-some.

“All our equipment is dedicated to digital print and as such is compact, lightweight and has low energy consumption compared to washers designed for screen printing.

Throughput is dependent on the type of textile and its weight and Kramer said the E-Wash could process up to 400 linear m/hr of 120gsm polyester or 200 linear m/hr of 120gsm cotton.  It is available in 1.85m, 2.5m and 3.4m widths.

Units can be combined for higher throughput and can be incorporated into existing Porta-Wash lines for firms increasing capacity.

The device is suitable for all digital ink types and for both soft signage, garment and interior textile applications, with 50% of sales to date being to soft signage firms running disperse dyes.

Pricing starts at €94,000 for the 1.85m-wide version.
