Print ePS, the print operating unit of eProductivity Software, has acquired Canadian print MIS provider Avanti Systems from Ricoh.

Avanti provides MIS workflow automation technology for mid-sized and large commercial printers. Based in Toronto, the business serves hundreds of customers across the UK, US, and Canada.

Print ePS said the deal, which was completed yesterday (2 June), would strengthen its position in the midmarket print segment and expanded its global technology portfolio.

Print ePS’ suite of cloud-based, AI-powered products is designed to drive automation, efficiency, and profitability for print businesses, featuring intelligent estimating, scheduling, and data-driven workflow optimisation to reduce costs and accelerate production.

The company said the addition of Avanti strengthened its ability to meet the growing demand for connected, automated, and highly scalable print MIS platforms.

Avanti Systems’ 45 staff have been taken on as part of the deal and there are no anticipated changes to their current work locations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Avanti customers and employees to the Print ePS family,” said Dan Vertachnik, CEO of Print ePS.

“We remain committed to supporting Avanti’s customers with the same high level of service and professionalism they expect, while also providing access to Print ePS’ extensive product portfolio, global expertise, and continued innovation in cloud-based MIS solutions.”

Print ePS said Avanti’s team would play a key role in advancing cloud offerings, growth initiatives, and delivering expanded value to customers.

A Print ePS spokesperson told Printweek the opportunity grew organically from the “longstanding, successful partnership between Ricoh and Print ePS”.

“We have maintained a strong relationship and will continue to nurture and grow this partnership moving forward.

“Additionally, Print ePS will continue to explore acquisitions and strategic partnerships that expand our product portfolio, bring in new technologies, help us enter new markets, and strengthen our leadership position in the industry.”

Koji Miyao, president of Ricoh Graphic Communications Business Unit, added: “This transaction further strengthens Ricoh’s longstanding partnership with Print ePS as well as our ability to accelerate our customers’ transition from offset to digital by concentrating our resources on best-in-class production print solutions.”

Print ePS said that, in the near term, Avanti would continue operating under the name “Avanti, a Print ePS Company”. No long-term rebranding decision has been made at this time.
