The Plockmatic ColorCut LCF500 Pro system is an all-in-one device for volume roll-to-roll label production, which includes the ability to contour kiss-cut labels, with the added benefit to apply laminates when required using integrated lamination capabilities, along with a range of finishing options for labels, such as waste matrix removal and slitting for finished rolls.
A wide range of shapes and label sizes can be produced on the machine, which is said to offer “precise, powerful, and easily managed” cut functions via its built-in control centre.
The company, exhibiting at booth 4.2-A45, said the LCF500 offers instant job retrieval by reading printed page marks and QR codes.
The system incorporates a patented auto-tracking technology that continually measures roll position and deviation, dynamically and actively adjusting the roller mandrel axis to ensure complete cutting accuracy and finishing performance.
The device can half-cut (kiss-cut) and half-cut perforate roll-based label media covering sizes from 150mm width, through 210/215mm, up to a maximum web width of 320mm.
It accepts industry standard 3-inch (76mm cores) with a maximum outer diameter of up to 300mm.
Accuracy is maintained with a four-mark registration system, but to help users reduce wastage, the LCF500 print can use two-marks per frame and the cutter will read the following two-marks on the top of the next frame, said to ensure precision with minimal waste.
The business said full automation and optimisation could be achieved using the ColorCut QR Code System, which allows jobs to be automatically recalled using a QR code, thereby enabling mixed job production on the same roll.
The LCF500 handles a wide range of media with its 750 gram-force cutting capability, delivered in 3g increments, allowing precise cutting of fine, thin exquisite wine labels as well as thicker polyester shipping or chemical labels.
Capable of a cutting speed of up to 10.5m/min (shape dependent), the servo motor driven system incorporates auto-tracking technology for roll position and deviation, managed via a built-in 20-inch display and keyboard for machine status and job control.
To help ensure complete flexibility, the LCF500 comes equipped with a six-blade slitting capability enabling the user to slit finished and cut labels into a maximum of seven individual smaller rolls as needed.
Mark Baker-Homes, VP Packaging & Labelling Business Unit, said: “This is one of the first of several machines. We already have a number of sheetfed label-based devices, but since the Plockmatic Group acquired Intec, their focus has been on expanding the packaging and labelling side of the business significantly.
“At Drupa we launched a couple of products into that area, but this is the first of several roll-to-roll products that will launch this year.
“This takes larger diameter, heavier rolls and is designed to be a bit disruptive. Because we’ve got a number of machines coming, the idea is to firmly ensconce the Plockmatic Group into the label market.
Priced at €14,999, or £12,999 for UK customers, the machine can be ordered immediately with a 60-day lead time.
