Mimaki launches new flatbed UV LED printer

Mimaki has extended its JFX200 product range with the launch of the JFX200-2531 model, which offers an increased printing area and enhanced productivity.

The new flatbed UV LED printer, which builds on the success of the JFX200-2513 model that was launched two years ago, features the same specifications as its predecessor but adds a larger table with a print area twice the size.

It also includes a 'toggle print' function that increases productivity and improves continuous running capability by allowing operators to load one board while another is printing.

Mimaki EMEA general marketing manager Mike Horsten said: “This is a product where we’ve listened to what the customer demanded and have added features.

“Customers were saying they wanted the quality of the JFX200 and liked the machine but they needed more productivity.”

The device can handle media up to 2,500x3,100mm. which increases the application range to accommodate large signs, wall decorations, doors and other large items.

“Some customers wanted to have a machine where they could put two doors side by side, making it easier for them to load and offload and therefore raising productivity,” said Horsten.

The machine can also accommodate two signage boards of 1,220x2,440mm in size, which makes it suitable for growing sign and display companies.

Other features include improved media handling and an ioniser that eliminates electrostatic discharge, which can affect image quality.

Anti-banding functions and variable dot printing are said to contribute to the creation of smooth, high quality images while a vacuum pedal is now included as standard and enables hands-free operation of the media vacuum function.

The maximum speed of the machine is 25sqm/hr when running double CMYK or up to 12sqm/hr when adding other options such as white.

A wide range of inksets are available for the device including LH-100 scratch-resistant ink and LUS-120 and LUS-150 inks that are suitable for printing on soft materials.

Additionally, LUS-200 ink can be used for outdoor applications due to its superior resistance to sun, rain and other adverse weather conditions while LUS-350 ink is suitable for a wide range of thermoforming applications as it is able to stretch up to 350% without cracking.

Commercial availability of the JFX200-2531 is expected in Q1 2017 and it is expected to cost around €100,000 (£84,000).

Mimaki has also recently unveiled two new UV flatbed printers aimed at sign and graphics firms looking to diversify their offering and manufacturing companies requiring flexibility and short-run production capabilities.
