Designed to replace sublimation, direct-to-garment (DTG) and direct-to-film (DTF) print in a single process, Sawgrass’ patented VersiFlex process allows users to print on a huge range of surfaces, including cotton, linen, ceramics, wood, metal, acrylic and vinyl, as well as synthetic fabrics.
Using US-based Sawgrass’ desktop SG500 and SG1000 printers, the VersiFlex process uses newly formulated inks – Versiflex Y, M and C, along with the VersiFlex Expander Cart for better transfer across a range of papers and vinyl – and specialist substrates to allow for a transfer process with no need for pre-treatment or specialist curing ovens.
“With VersiFlex, we're bridging the longstanding gap between professional-grade output and the practical realities of modern production workflows,” said Thomas Kirschner, president at Sawgrass.
“Creative professionals, small businesses, and on-demand producers no longer have to choose between quality, versatility, and simplicity. This platform delivers the power of multiple systems – sublimation, DTF, and DTG – in one compact, affordable, and scalable solution. We're delighted to showcase our disruptive technology at Fespa 2025 in Berlin, where the world’s most forward-thinking print innovators will see first-hand how VersiFlex is reshaping what’s possible in digital decoration.”
The VersiFlex process works using Sawgrass’ own specialist substrates like VersiFlex Light self-weeding paper, which is used for light-coloured natural fabrics and uncoated products.
The inkset can also then be used with the OEM’s TruePix sublimation transfer paper for traditional hard and soft sublimation blanks, and for almost all other materials with sublimation vinyl stocks.
All necessary components, including ink and substrates, will be available in Europe from the end of April, following their US launch. Sawgrass’ MySawgrass and Sawgrass Print Utility software are already available, along with the firm’s SG500 and SG1000 printers. A starter entry kit costs less than €2,000.
The entire process is on display at Sawgrass’ stand (2.2–B58) at Fespa, held at Messe Berlin from 6-9 May.
“We’ve chosen Fespa for this global unveiling because the audience here understands innovation,” said Kirschner.
“VersiFlex is not just a product – it’s a new way of thinking about decorating.”
