Youth granted access through PrintIT! push

Under 16s will be allowed into the halls at Ipex 2006 for the first time after careful discussions to allow schools taking part in the PrintIT! initiative to enter the show at Birminghams NEC.

Around 20,000 students have been taking part in the initiative to encourage kids into the industry, and the organiser has won special dispensation from health and safety chiefs to win access for the youngsters next April.

Martyn Elmy, chairman of PrintIT! said: "The organiser, IIR, is finalising the deal with insurance companies and the children will be allowed in under strict supervision by their teachers."
