The product, which will be on show at Ipex, targets the short-run production market and is available for 4,595. The Ilumina is distributed by Info-Tec.
Features include an Adobe PostScript 3 RIP, single pass four-colour printing and 32 levels of multi-bit colour. It can print on paper and heavy card stocks ranging from 75gsm to 427gsm. The maximum media size is 1,200x327mm and it is capable of printing 2,000 sheets per hour. The machine has a monthly duty cycle of 150,000 pages.
According to Info-Tec managing director Ian Melville, the Ilumina will target customers ranging from small commercial printers to end users and copy shops.
The Ilumina also includes Colourmatch 2 software, which offers more in-depth control over monitor, scanner, source and destination colour profiles.
Because of the new product, the Xant CL30D HSE, described by Melville as a "steady seller" for the past 18 months, has dropped in price to 2,499.
