Wearside firm wins ballot job

Sunderland-based printer Edward Thompson Group is set to clinch a deal to print 200m ballot papers for African elections in three states.

If successful, the firm will charter 10 jumbo jets to the region and would follow previous work done by Edward Thompson in the 1998 Nigerian elections. It also has experience of printing ballot papers in national, regional and local elections in Europe.

The company has a turnover of 30m and employs 600 people.
