Veritek secures RTI Digital service partnership

Eastbourne-based technical services supplier Veritek has secured a service partnership with RTI Digital, the Canadian-headquartered manufacturer of Vortex print systems, which use high-speed Memjet inkjet heads.

Veritek’s engineers have completed training in Milan and are now fully skilled to work with Vortex printers.

RTI Digital won the public sector competitive process to supply three Vortex 4200 series printers to the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), an organisation within the UK government which is responsible for providing navigational and other hydrographic information for national, civil and defence requirements.

The devices are being used by the UKHO to produce paper navigational charts as well as other publications.

RTI Digital EMEA business director ?Peter Barton said: “These printers are used in a print-on-demand, high-output environment. This required a strategic service partner in order to provide four-hour on-site support to the plant in Taunton.

“Veritek was fundamental to the contract award. We were looking for a quality service provider who shares our principles of integrity and excellent customer service – we found this in Veritek and will use their broad coverage in Europe.”??

Veritek head of business development James Salamon added: “The UKHO used to stock stacks of maps up in their offices, which would be pulled off the shelves and then delivered. Printing was done elsewhere to replenish that stock.

“What they've done now, which is revolutionary, is got rid of all of the stock holding and orders are now printed as they are a made in a 'just in time' stocking philosophy.

“Our engineers will ensure that all the Vortex printers are maintained and serviced for optimum results for this important client.”

Veritek's engineers will carry out preventative maintenance visits every three months as well as providing an on-call service if there are any other issues at any time.

The Vortex 4200, which was debuted in 2013, has a native resolution of 1,600dpi and prints at either 1,000sqm/hour or 500sqm/hour with a print width of just over a metre.

The device, which can produce a single print up to 150 metres long, is primarily targeted at the architect, engineering and construction markets that work with CAD systems.

Veritek offers full service and support to customers including Asda, Boots, Fujifilm, HP, Sony and the Ministry of Defence. The business has around 130 engineers based in the UK.
