The UKs compliance schemes for packaging waste have come together as CoSWiG the compliance schemes working group.
The group contains 12 schemes that collectively represent 9,000 UK companies with a combined turnover of about 500bn.
A meeting with the Environment Agency, held prior to companies registration deadline of 7 April, established how the Agency would monitor compliance scheme members. It also decided that communication would pass through CoSWiGs current organiser, Kamila Horak.
Up to four meetings a year will be held, each with a different chair. The current chairman is Onyxpaks Andrew Francis.
The group said it realised the benefits of a collective voice.
