Accelerator, a template-based print document creation system, has been launched by Turning Point Technologies (TPT).
Designed as a plug-in for the Xinet WebNative asset management system, Accelerator allows users to customise and order print using a standard web browser.
"If youre an existing WebNative user its a no-brainer," said Andrew Psarianos, project manager at the first UK user FE Burman. "The nice thing about it is its simple to use, simple to administer and plugs into our environment. Within a couple of hours it was producing work."
Psarianos looked at other products before settling on Accelerator, but opted for the system as it integrated into its existing workflow, cut out a lot of order processing administration and wasnt based on a per-transaction charge.
FE Burman is using it for clients to produce and order business cards online, which it is printing on its Indigo. It is also looking at other applications, including other stationery and the possibility of online classified ad production.
Accelerator was developed by ImPress Systems as a plug-in for Xinets WebNative. It uses QuarkXPress to create templates with editable XML fields for text and images. TPT claimed it is ideal for business stationery, point-of-sale materials, versionised brochures and advertising.
Accelerator costs 3,500, but needs Xinet WebNative and FullPress to run, which cost 18,000 and 6,000 respectively.
TPT sees the WebNative asset management system as the front-end to digital workflow.
"Generally, when we sell workflow we sell asset management people need a portal," said TPT sales manager Steve Emerson.
He claimed that in the past year two thirds of the firms sales have come from asset management and workflow systems.
